Getting to know your provider
Callie Antonelli, LICSW
Hi there! I am very excited to be allowed the opportunity to get to know you. But first, it’s important that you get to know me clinically and personally. I have been a licensed clinical social worker practicing in Massachusetts for 12 years. I have spent the last 8 years working in the homes of families providing Early Intervention services. This allowed me the wonderful opportunity of getting to know my clients intimately and supporting them through the challenges they face while raising young children. I have also spent many years working in Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics where I have gained experience and respect for the challenges families go through when they have a child with special needs. I have provided in home behavioral services for children with a variety of mental health needs including but not limited to anxiety, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder, autism spectrum disorder, ADHD. I have spent a few years as an ABA therapist for children with autism spectrum disorder, and I’ve run social skills groups for children with autism spectrum disorder, ADHD, sensory processing, disorder, and anxiety. I have spent my entire career working with children who have special needs, and I am extremely passionate about helping these children and their families succeed.
Ever since I can remember, I've always wanted to help children. I am a survivor of childhood trauma, who has overcome many obstacles to get where I am today. These experiences have shaped who I am today. I strive to be mindful of the impact these experiences have on my life everyday. I have learned through my personal and clinical experiences that in order to help children we need to help parents as well. I specialize in working with children who have developmental disabilities, as well as social, emotional and behavioral difficulties. I have specialized in working with men, women, and parents who are trauma survivors, have substance abuse histories, anxiety, depression, and ones who are navigating the challenges of parenting a child with special needs.
I believe that we all have the inner resources and strength to overcome our challenges. By using mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, family systems theory, and often a solutions focused approach, I help individuals see their strengths and develop the skills they need to succeed. I believe behavior is always a source of communication, and the more mindful we can be of our actions the greater our ability will be to make effective change in our life.
I am the mother of two beautiful children who are my favorite people in this world. I was married for 8 years and have now been divorced since February 2020. I love animals, especially dogs. I have recently rescued a Beagle puppy who was bred for medical testing. He lived his entire life in a crate until we rescued him. It has brought our family such joy to help him feel safe and loved again. I love hiking with my kids, and by myself to clear my mind. I spend every warm day we have in New England going to the beach. I would love to live on the beach some day. Exercise is a big part of my life. Exercise keeps me centered. I always fit in some physical activity whether it’s walking, hiking, going to the gym, rowing, or yoga. I feel we should all take time out of our lives to connect with mother nature. I also enjoy writing, arts and crafts.
